Nest boxes

How many nest boxes do you need? Does each bird need their own, or do they share?

They'll all line up to use one special one and ignore the other ten empty ones, LOL. Seriously, if you have one nest for every 4-5 hens, you'll have plenty.

6 boxes for 11 hens and they use 2 maybe 3. Seems like they find a favorite one and they all want to use it. Kind of like in my house. I have 4 bathrooms but you can be sure my kids (6) are mad because someone is in the bathroom they want to use !

Yes ... you'll make a couple really nice hen boxes and they'll only use one or two.....

I have 10 heans and 3 boxes. They lay in 1 box 90% of the time...I catch them in the favorite one 2 at a time. Go figure. lol

I've always used the ratio of one box for every four hens.
