nest boxes

I have 10 birds of egg laying age & have 3 large nest boxes which they only
use 2 if I get 5 more birds will the spare box do or should they be 4 boxes

I have four boxes and I have a 16 hens.Would go ahead and add another one.

I'd add another, just so they have the option. My hens have preferred boxes, but if there's a dominant hen in one of them, the younger ones like to have an alternative nesting box so that they don't get beaten up.
