How should a nestbox look to make the bird feel happy...i have a silkie so i know not to put it way up high...my nest box is on the ground....is that alright?? if you can post pics of your nest boxes so i can see how they should be, that would be good..or you can briefly explain to me. Thanks! -alex-

These boxes are made from an old plexiglass breeder fish tank.

My post about using the fish tank.

I used a cardboard box for the Silky nest box until the first boxes were finished...

I also use one of the stackable kitchen boxes for the girls...

I use hay in the boxes, with golfballs for fake eggs. We have one EE who refuses to use the boxes and lays in the pine shavings, so I set this up for her, in hopes of faking her out...

I have all of our nest boxes set directly on top of the litter of the coop floors.

Hope this is some help!

In my pens for the ones that laying one is about 18 inches off the ground. The hen seems to like it. She has only laid 1 egg on the ground befor we t\\put the box up.

The with is a foot. It is 2 feet long and like a foot tall.
