anyone have quick cheep easy nest box designs/plans...my hubby wants to build them...me i would rather buy plastic one that would be easy to clean...oh well ...whatcha gonna do...lol:idunno

I went to Habitats ReStore and got some old drawers. I took all the hardware off and painted them. Then I glued/screwed a 3 inch piece of molding on the front and some old towel bars i also got from restore. for both boxes it cost me $6.50. This pic was before I got the poop board put up and some more molding to make it more "private"

These threads may give you some ideas. You should be able to get the large plastic buckets free from a deli or a grocery that has a deli. And for the bucket one, you can build a frame to hold the buckets and put a board across the bottom to hold the bedding in so you don't have to worry about cutting the lid. That would give the hen a place to land before going into the nest too.
