nest depth.. need answer immediately

I am at the point where I am building pull out laying nests..

how deep should I make them??

I am thinking 2 1/2 inches deep..

is that deep enough??

any ideas??

You might want to make them just a little deeper or they'll end up scratching all the shavings out. My nests are actually made out of dish pans and are probably 3-4 inches deep.

well., I have 5 built since my last post already..7 more to go.. i made them 3 1/2" deep.
