So, my friend gave me her coop. It didnt have any nesting boxes, so I cut a hole in the back and built them out of I would have easy access to the eggs. Because of the way the studs were spaced, I now have a big nesting box of about 31 inches. So, would you divide it into two nests of approx 15 inches each, or 3 nests of 10 inches each? The nests would be about 14 inches deep and 12 inches high. I have 6 pullets.

Thanks for any help.

Well, my nest boxes are large, so I'd opt for two larger ones, since three birds per nest box is fine (they don't typically all get "the urge" at the same time). I know my bigger girls seem to appreciate some space.

Nope. Fill it with hay or shavings & they will create one or more indentations that they'll share. My first nests were milk crates, cut down on the edges. They worked, but I later added two old dresser drawers. Very popular!

Terrific then, a big shared nest it will be. Thank you all for your input.
