Hello. We would love to see your nesting box ideas. We're STILL building our coop and the next phase is the nesting boxes. We're trying to decide what type to build. We've settled on 3 boxes inside the coop (not the jutted out kind).

Thanks!

We made ours out of 5 gallon buckets. The girls seem to like them. I don't have a picture right now but will postone tommorow. It was an idea we got out of the Backyard Poultry magazine.

That's a great idea. I think DH would love to hear how easy it could be for him!

Those kitty litter buckets just might get recycled once again!

That's a beautiful nest! Did you build it tilted backward so the egg would roll back? My DH said he'd love to see the drawings or specs if possible. Neat idea. Do you use bedding besides what's shown? Do you find much poo on the perch?
Thank you.

Here are some additional pictures that show more of the nest.

[/img] The floor is sloped and covered with nest liner that I purchased from Farmtek It takes 2 piece per nest. One piece is for the nest floor, one is cut for the bottom of the egg tray and for a bumper. I don't use any other material in the nest. The liner comes out and is very easy to clean and I just sweep out the box before putting the liner back in. I built this one out of T&G pine that I had as scrap but since several people have wanted to build this themselves I have drawn up a set of plans and cut list as well as instructions for building it utilizing plywood. You can email me and I will send it to you. This nest works great, the birds use it and retrieving eggs is a snap. I mounted mine in the wall between the work area and the bird area. If you look at the side view you will see a vertical 1x, this is where the interior wall to the coop sits in relation to the nest. Hope this helps

Here are mine although they may not be exactly what you were looking for.
