Nesting box placement question

Either works. I've done both, successfully.

Mostly, its a matter of convenience for you as a chicken keeper. The boxes I access from outside the coop/run are all on one side. Fold down the door, grab the eggs, re-latch and go.

The boxes in the second coop which is also the goat house are inside a run. For reasons of available space, those boxes are on opposite walls, facing one another, with elevated roost bars between.

Both sets of nesting boxes get used by their respective run denizens

I will be using four nesting boxes. Can they be placed two on each opposite end of the coop or should I place them all together?
How large is your coop and how many birds do you plan to house in it?
I would much prefer to have all the nest sites together for ease of egg collection.

I have four boxes separated in pairs. One pair is next to the people door, the other is across the coop from the door. The chooks seem to use them all pretty equally, but if you pinned me down for a suggestion, I'd say the darkest corner would b preferred. The hens go there more often when they go broody.
