HAPPY EASTER!!!

Got a quick question on the nexting box. Can it be just one long box or does it HAVE to have individual boxes? We have 4 pullets and 4 straight run (hoping their aren't ALL roosters.) And thats all the chickens we will have.....for now.

And as I was reading on here a couple people said that the hens alot of times just use the same 2-3 boxed each time anyway. This coop is gonna drive me crazy before it's said and done.

I keep telling myself that the chickens really don't care but I am a perfectionist and want to do it right! The hubby is getting a little "irritated" with me

Here is a pic of what it looks like so far.

I'm not an expert, but I feel individual nesting boxes would be better. They would be more cozy and less light. I have three nesting boxes and the birds use only two normally. It does vary from time to time??? But it gives them a choice???

BTW, look like you have a really nice coop under construction there...

No matter how man boxes you have their only going to use 2-3 primarily. I have 8 boxes for 18 girls and rarely have I seen where they used all of them!!

I built two large communal nesting boxes for my coop, and I want to see how it goes once the girls start laying. If need be, I can very easily add a couple of dividers in each box and make six separate boxes out of the current two. Ultimately the hens sill decide what they want, and if they can't share, I'll add the dividers....

Here's a link to my nestbox construction thread...plenty of pics....PM me if you have any specific questions...
