Nesting boxes for broodies

The nesting boxes in my new coop are about 20 inches from the floor. If at some point I want to let some of the hens hatch eggs do I need to have boxes on the floor. If not what do you do to allow the chicks to get in and out of the nest?

20 inches is definitely too high for the chicks. If you get a broody, I would put them on the floor.

Can I move a broodie hen to the floor after she lays a clutch?

I moved mine 2 weeks in to her setting, I picked her up and my daughters put her eggs in a large dog crate and I very gently laid her in. she scooped up all 13 eggs and is still setting. Due to start hatching on Wed. the 29th!!
