Putting in some roosting bars now and while considering chicken movement I realized the entrance into the nesting boxes is 11 in off of the floor. Is that too high? Should I build some sort of perch to cut that distance down a little bit to encourage entry?

11 in. isn't too high but a perch in front of the nest is always a good idea regardless of height so the hens have the opportunity to look into the nest before entering. That's what they like to do. That way they can observe that there isn't a snake or other animal in there.

or stand there and tell the hen that is IN the nest to "c'mon, c'mon, hurry up, it's my turn!". ;)
