Nesting Boxes

what is best to use in nesting boxes hay or straw? this i s my first time with chickens laying eggs. thank you for any help

I use pine shavings in mine

I also use pine shaving in mine. Actually I use pine shavings throughout the whole coop. Smells great, absorbs droppings, easy to clean/change, and helps keep the smell down in the warm months.
