Nesting Boxes?

Just Ducky

We have 2 Kahki Campbells and a Domestic Mallard about 9 weeks old. By October 31, I think, they should be laying. We have a 3' x 4' duck house that I herd them into every evening and keep them in there until 8 or 9 am. I have straw and shaving litter that I fluff once a day and change once a week.

Do we need nesting boxes? I've read that ducks just lay anywhere. That's okay, but if I can use nesting boxes that I'll attach to their house it'll be easier to keep the eggs clean - I think.

I have Muscovy ducks and out of my 10 girls 3 use nest boxes the others lay their eggs in the shaving in their house. you can try the nest boxes to see if they will take to them. when they first start to lay ducks will lay where ever the urge stikes them, if you provide a nice quiet place away from the mainstream of flock activity they may choose to lay there.
