Nesting chooks

Hi

I have 2 white chooks that only recently refuse to get off the nesting box, they basically sit on each other. I have 5 chooks in total and these ones are around 3-4 yrs old now.

Is it normal and what can I do as I think it is stopping the other ones from laying as I am only getting 1 - 2 eggs a day now.

They may have gone broody, or they may be ill. Your eggs may be getting broken because of the scrambling around in the nest box. If an egg is accidentally broken, the chickens will certainly eat it, often shell and all.
