Nesting\laying box question.

I was looking over other posts and see that a lot of folks have have circle cutouts as the opening for the nesting box.

I was wondering why ?
I was considering adding something to mine (mine seemed kinda open)

Circle, square, rectangle or triangle (pointy end up). Whatever strikes your artistic fancy or is easier to cut. The chickens don't mind.

Hens like a hidden closed in place to lay their eggs. I'd cover those boxes with some plywood on an angle going down so that they don't get on top of the boxes. They like a closed in place best. 12 X 12 X 12 is good.

Kinda like a hinyhider bathroom stall for chickens ROFL. I never would have guessed chickens are modest
