I have some muscovy ducks. They are in a pen on my lake. I am going to turn them loose when it warms up. Do I need to build floating nest boxes for them or will they nest in the weeds around the lake.

I wouldn't use a floating nest box......ducks don't usually like to go into something that is moving about, like on a lake. You could just make some large wooden boxes with a entrance hole. Ducks like a snug, safe place to lay eggs or set.

I'd recommend the floating nest boxes on docks attached to a washing line out on the pond so you can pull them in to clean etc (a friend of mine does this!) You can use carry boxes (like the ones for cats.) This also protects the eggs from most predators!
