Does anyone have any tips or know how to successfully convinced a guinea to lay in a nesting box. Our female drops eggs all over the coop and refuses to use a nesting box.

When guineas first start laying, it takes them awhile to understand what is happening. It is common for them to drop their first eggs wherever they happen to be when the urge hits them. Most eventually get through this stage within a couple of weeks.

Last year I put three fake eggs in one of the nesting boxes when I saw that the hens were laying their eggs in random places. At least three of them started laying eggs in that nesting box and I ended up with 10 new guineas. I think it was dumb luck, but sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. After those eggs where either guinea brooded or incubated they started laying in hidden nests outside. which I found by watching the males who would stand guard.
