Nests

can nests be in its own structure a few feet away from the coop? thanks

I have a friend that has her nest boxes on the side of her coop. The chickens have to exit the coop, turn the corner, go up the ramp and lay their eggs. They go no matter the weather and my friend says her nest boxes are always clean.
I've seen a couple of pictures on BYC where the nest boxes are in a separate little house. Wish I knew where to look for them!!
