Hey everyone! I’m Kyra 💜

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I’m very new at chickens! Chickens have been one of my favorite animals for years. My older sister has had chickens for 5+ years and I always have loved helping her take care of them. But now, she moved closer to me, so we’re attempting to raise a flock together!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Well, my sister and I are raising twenty-eight 5 week old chicks! And I personally have five 3 week old chicks that get to be all mine 💗

(3) What breeds do you have?

Our combined flock has lots of different breeds, let’s see if I can remember a few. Black Jersey Giants, Polish, winedots, legbars, cinnamon queens, some surprise breeds, more breeds I can’t remember, and a barnyard goose(he can be an honorary chicken, right? 😂)

My personal babies are a cuckoo maran, a speckled Sussex, and 3 silkies
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Honestly, I think chickens are so cool, I love it all. They’re just really interesting creatures.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I love being outside(hiking, kayaking, bothering the chickens 😂) and making art, like painting or drawing.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Right now I’m living a fun and hectic life! My sister and her husband and their hobby farm moved back home from out of state and get to stay with us awhile! So on top of all those chicks, she also brought 4 adult hens, 3 corgis, 3 horses, 3 rabbits, and 1 cow! We already had 4 dogs, 1 cat, and 1 horse, but honestly I’m loving it. I have 1 dog(of the 4) thats personally mine, he’s a rescue(with a long back story) named Kenai and he’s my pride and joy!
I’m a hair stylist by trade, but I’ve been in a bit of a hiatus as of late.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally
I am constantly worrying and wondering about my chicks, and every time I googled a question, it always took me here! So I decided that rather than incessantly asking my sister if this chick is acting normal and can they eat that, I had better just get an account here!

So hi everyone!
