I've got 6 chickens. They are in a run but there is no way of covering it because of a tree that grows in the middle. I have read that chickens need about 4-6 oz of pellets a day.
It doesn't matter how much food I put in the hopper, or how often I fill it, every time I go to visit my chickens, the food has gone.
The trouble is there are so many other takers, jackdaws and pheasants being the main culprits.
What I want to know is, can I fill the hopper first thing and just hope the chickens get there first or must I always try and keep the hopper topped up? At the rate I am going, I have to buy a sack of pellets every 10-14 days.
Thanks for any advice.
