I feed 22 percent gamebird crumble, so I leave a huge pile of oystershell out. The chickens go through it. Yesterday, two of my pullets who have not started laying yet were eating the oystershell ... So I am hoping that they are about the start laying. Has anyone else ever noticed their pullets shovelling in the oystershell before starting to lay, and if so, there's the all important question: HOW LONG BEFORE YOU GET EGGS??

Yes, definitely, mine won't touch the oyster shell until about a week before they start laying again. Some other signs--they begin squatting for me again, combs color up a lot, interest in nest box===eggs!!

YAY! Because one of these is a pullet who is 39 weeks. I am TIRED of waiting, let me tell you.
