This is our first batch of chickens and ducks we got this spring from my daughters school. The chickens are currently 12 weeks and the ducks are 11 weeks. We started with 4 Khaki Campbell Ducks, 3 white Leghorns and 3 Rhode Island Reds. We've lost 2 white Leghorn roosters. They started crowing around 8 weeks and we really miss hearing that. The 1st rooster ran right into the side of the barn and died instantly right in front of our 5.5 yr old and she was so upset she wouldn't let us eat him we had to bury him. The 2nd rooster attacked my 5.5 year old while she was petting him and got her face pretty good with his feet (thank goodness he hadn't started growing spurs yet) so after trying unsuccessfully to catch him we suck our 12 year old hunting dog on him and wore him out so we could get him and ate him the next day. I know our remaining Leghorn is a pullet but I'm not sure about the Reds. One isn't as colored as the other two nor does it have the crown and waddles like the other two. No crowing what do you think 2 roosters and 2 hens or 4 hens? My husband thinks they are all hens and that we have 3 drakes and one duck. If anybody know anything about ducks please weigh in.
