New and excited to get chickens!!

My name is Kimmer. I live in western New York. my husband and I have decided on raising chickens.any advice would help . It is so hard to make decisions. We have a coop from my wonderful sister- inlaw. It need cleaned and a little work. Any pointers to creating the best for chickens to have a happy life?
