1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to owning chickens! I have 5 4 week old chicks that I got from our local farm supply store.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

5. I had 6 but unfortunately one died from pasty butt/failure to thrive after 5 days. She was the smallest of the group.

(3) What breeds do you have?

I have 2 welsummers, 1 black sex link, 1 sapphire gem, and 1 rainbow dixie.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

so far my favorite thing and seeing their different personalities and how excited they get about things. Or the different noises they make as they are going to sleep.. or the excitement when they find a slug and start racing and running!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Other hobbies include being a dog enthusiast, spin cycling and advid netflixer and occasional baker.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am a medical assistant at a mental health clinic. I have two dogs ( one husky lab who doesn't care about my chickens and one dachsund mix who is obsessed with them and defs wants to eat them) and 3 cats. I have 1 13 year old son and 1 part time step daughter! And my boyfriend who begrudgingly helps me set up all my chicken stuff 😅

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found byc due to my extensive questions regarding my chicks ( I am borderline neurotic taking care or them) and have found so much information on these forums! I really appreciate how virtually every question I've had has already been asked on here and not only that, but its been answered in so many different ways! I really appreciate everyone here!
