So our summer holiday is done and our two new arrivals are tucked up in their new bed for the night. Thought it best to let them calm for tonight as my two kids decided to bring them home on their knees in the back of the van 'so they could see where they where going' Pfft!

Anyway, big reveal in the morning when we let them out into their new home.
Hope they like it here!

Quick question, how do you guys feed wheat?

TIA
Rob.

This was them earlier. They really didn't want to come out of the shed!

I mix soft white wheat berries and oats into a pre-made feed (McGeary's organic Maintenance feed). Metzer's has a calculator that will you formulate a mix to the desired protein content. I found McGeary's to be higher in protein than I wanted for my four pet ducks so I reduce the protein by mixing in whole wheat and oats.

Thanks for the info @Yoles32. I'm in the UK so McGeary's isn't an option for me. Seems the only thing I can get locally is plain old layers pellets. Ill have to do some more digging around I think!
So I kinda chased them out the shed eventually. Didn't take them long to find my garden pond!

Aren't they @Miss Lydia!
I put some in their bathtub and after a while they found it and went diving for it, great to watch! I also added some to their normal food but might soak some overnight in future.
This was the last picture of the day. They just sat on the lawn preening and sleeping while I pottered about. Still very wary of me but that shouldn't take long to fix.
As for age, I kinda lost track now. I'm thinking maybe 7 or 8 weeks?

They are sweet. You are locking them up at night right? they are high on many predator menus.

Not sure if you can get dried meal worms in the UK but If you can it won't be long before they will be eating out of your hand.

I do lock them up at night but only for my peace of mind. We don't really have any predators around us. We used to have a lot of cats prowling around but as soon as they met my Malamute Gracie, they kinda stopped calling in!
We do have dried meal worms and they are on my shopping list, along with some fresh vegetables. Think I'm gonna cook them up something nice and tasty for their tea tomorrow ;)
