New at incubation

My girls have hen saddles on because one of them had been losing some feathers. I plan on incubating some eggs in a few weeks. My question is will the saddles deter my rooster from wanting to mate? And, if he does will the eggs still be fertilized to hatch. You can tell I am new to all this if these sound like dumb questions.

The saddles prevent feather loss ,due to a rooster, but I don’t know if they prevent mating. But yes, if he’s not actively mating, after a short period eggs will no longer be fertile.

no, unless he has for sure mated in the last 3 weeks. they hold sperm for 3 weeks!

All 6 of my Salmon Faverolls have saddles/aprons on. The male Salmon is so much bigger than the ladies even though he is a gentleman he hurts their top feathers. I have hatched many from this flock and check fertility weekly with bulls eyes galore. I actually sell the fertile eggs on Ebay with great success. I wish we had saddles for chickens years ago.
