Hi all!

My husband acquired a Buff Brahman for our daughter and they surprised me with it. I almost fainted and thought that was the craziest idea ever. Specially when you live in the City and we don't have a farm.

Today, 9-10 months later the hen is my best friend, she follows me everywhere, wants to sit on my lap and sleep with me. She loves bananas and she is a wonderful girl. Never had problems or nothing with her. We love her dearly.

I then got the chicken fever and went and bought several more baby chicks, and I mean a lot.

We have Buff Orpington, Brahma (Buff and a Light), White Silkies, Gray Silkies, Cochin, Astroloup, Black Sexlinks, Polish, Barred Rock, White Rock, and three others I don't know the breed.

Today we went crazy and got Seramas, they are WONDERFUL.

We love them all!

We are learning about how to feed Bantmans vs regular chicks, pasty butts, electrolytes, probiotics, heat lamps, rent a coop, Merek's, New Castle Virus, and God knows what else.

My gosh...so much to learn.

Love the story of how your girl won you over to the chicken world. I have often called my Dottie my chicken-puppy because she follows me, comes when I call her name, begs for grapes and likes to nap in my lap.

Sounds like you have jumped in with both feet. While there is plenty to learn, you couldn't have found a better place to "roost." Folks here know just about everything and are always willing to help and share their experiences. Welcome to BYC!
