New babies in a coop

I have 3 10 - 12 week old chicks in a coop/run. The coop is up a ladder ramp and they haven’t figured out how to get themselves in at night. I’ve been going out at dusk-ish and putting them up in the coop. Without a older hen to show them how, what should I do to teach them to get up there on their own?

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
You have to train your pullets how to use the ramp. I used a trail of mealworms. Once the first few figure it out and go into the coop the others learn through example.

The ramp is a short ladder, not a ramp. I thought of doing something like that also

Try installing a fairly wide ramp for a while. Once they figure that out, remove it, and hopefully they will use the ladder.

If they were raised with an infrared heat lamp, remove the infrared bulb and put in a red light bulb. Then install the clamp light inside the coop. Turn it off after they all go inside the coop. Then lock them up for the night.

As @sourland suggests, switch out the ladder for a ramp with cleats spaced about 5" apart.
