OMGosh!!!!!!! They are too cute!

One of our awesome fellow BYC'er's gave me 4 hatching eggs that are scheduled to go in to the bator today. I can't wait! Never thought that I would have geese, but then seeing all these baby pics makes me giddy!

DH has never really shown excitement about my hatching and chicken addiction......lol, he has been pestering me about these eggs, he can't wait for them to hatch.

30 days @ 30%-35% humidity for days 1-27 then boost hum. up to as much as I can give them right? He also suggested misting them with a spray bottle of water that is kept in the bator. How often do I mist them and do I start misting them on day 27??????

Hey, I was wondering how your geese were doing?

I ordered female pilgrims from the this year and was concerned they weren't the correct gender, and sent an email to Ideal asking about that. They sent me an email back saying that, due to their breeding program, they are unable to color sex the goslings at hatch and have to vent sex them, instead. I thought you might like to know that, in case you want to breed them in the future and mistakenly think you can sex them by color. I was disappointed by the information, but I am glad to know it. I wish they had put that on their site before I'd ordered, though.

how do you vent test? have you noticed on babies a different color skin? I have one with pink skin (the boy) and one girl with almost black skin and her beck and feet are also dark - both are romans. Also, Have you ever heard your goslings stomach rumble and is it normal to sound like a gravel truck? or like you are driving on a gravel driveway? I do give them grit and they are pooping fine, just wondering??? jennifer

My babies I kept are all doing GREAT! I will have to get some new pics up - they are almost fully feathered and out on the pond with my two adult geese, but they are still friendly and come up to visit. As far as needing to vent sex them - purebred pilgrims are able to be sexed by color at any age so I'm not really sure why they would vent sex them unless that is just their policy when they are selling any breed of chick/gosling/duckling.
