I lost my sweet Rouen, Waffles, a few days ago. I was heartbroken because she was a victim of a predator. I felt like I failed her. I was worried about her sister, Chicken, and how she would handle it. As an animal lover, I worry about the well being of any and all animals that cross my path.

During my weekly visit at my parent's house (my guy and I recently moved about an hour from them after being within walking distance for years), my dad and I were talking about how I was upset about Waffles. He felt so bad about it that he wanted to make it right. After searching for a while and drawing up a plan, my contractor father is going to build me a brand new coop and run for my Chicken...and her brand new siblings, Casey and Nibbles!
We found a woman about 35 miles from us who raises and sells poultry. She had two, 4 week old Black Swedish left for the season, so we went this morning and picked them up!
They will be kept in a brooder until they're a bit bigger, and until the coop is built, but I am so excited to have these new babies!

(Please excuse the Bud Light box - it was the only box I could find while I set up their brooder

Thank you! I do have them in a different brooder now that has bedding down so they won't slip. The set up in the picture was only temporary until I got back from Tractor Supply. They're just too sweet. I can't wait to introduce them to their big sister in a few weeks!
