In the Brooder
Hello everyone,
I am new to having chickens (though not new to caring for them.) We just purchased 6 chicks from Paris farmers union near us, and bought them with the assumption they'd be pullets though I know they say only 90% accuracy. We got a barred Plymouth Rock which I know are supposed to be able to be sexed by sight with fair accuracy. I had a drive, and needed to be back home by a certain time so I just did a quick check to make sure they were all alive and healthy before I left. Now that I am home I am second guessing whether this could be a roo or not. Obviously early days as this is just a baby chick, but since this is my first time having chickens although I have done a lot of research I still feel very unsure so I thought I'd ask more season chicken families. I cannot have roosters where I live, and I am already getting attached so I would like to re-home if it is a roo, though I know I may need to wait to be absolutely sure. Excuse the poop-the paper towels were changed after photos and most of that is just chick feed. Also sorry for the poor photos they are fast! Thank you!
