Good morning everyone,
I am getting back into chickens. I had a very small flock of 3 hens and a rooster while I was in college. My boyfriend and I recently moved to a remote location with land. So I decided to get some chickens again. I ordered 8 chickens (different breeds) from ideal poultry and they will be shipped out this week. I have a small set up for them in my indoor kennel to raise until they are big enough to go in an outdoor coop. I have read that shavings (not cedar) are great to start out baby chicks on.
We will be building our own coop, and possibly run (or use a dog kennel for a run). Does anyone have any great plans for a simple diy coop?
Also any tips and advise on how to make sure the new chicks are happy and healthy would be greatly appreciated.
