Hi Everyone,

Its been a while for me connecting with all my chicken lover friends. I had to let you know that I have another 13 new baby chicks, Silver Laced Wyandottes. They are so cute at now 3 weeks old. They are very curious about my grown chickens and love to hear my roosters crow.

The other great news is we are getting lots of eggs. Beautiful white, brown, and the bantam eggs are very small but cute. We're sharing with a couple of neighbors that love fresh eggs.

I want to know when I can expect my chickens to go broody so I can begin hatching my own chicks. Once they start laying eggs does that mean I will soon have baby chicks to hatch? My roosters have been very busy this spring, so I am expecting to have some.

Hope all of you are having a good summer. So long for now.

Welcome back to the flock! While some breeds go broody more often than others, broodiness seems to be hard to predict. I have 18 hens (including SLW and GLW) and the only ones that ever go broody are a pair of Buff Orps. They only seem to go broody when the weather is blazing hot. Makes no sense to me. Hope yours start soon!
