Oh. My. God. Hatching chicks is sooo amazing.

I have some eggs of mass confusion in the incubator(s) no idea when anything is supposed to hatch as I pulled most out of the nests after one baby died that hatched outside.

So, I've been waiting, patiently. Candling, watching video after video - reading and re-reading the chicken hatching 101 thread.

Yesterday I went out to the coop and soon as mom got off the nest and ran out for some food, a baby chicken kicked free of it's shell!!!! Quickly took her inside and put her in the "hatch" incubator and left her alone til today. Immediately after hatching here is her right eye.

Now the eye is closed, and I wet it with a q-tip and pulled it open. I don't see anything. She keeps chirping loud and scratching at her eye like it's annoying her and she's trying to get it open. Not sure what to do here other than keep putting some warm water on it. Any and all advice is appreciated.

So this baby above is a red sex link, his/her mommy crossed with the rooster below. I have no idea what the rooster is, but he's so small, and just too cute. I adore this guy. Can anyone tell me what he might be? Also, I read that sex links can be sexed at birth, is that true of red sex link mixed with something else?

Here he is in comparison to my buff orp and his tail.
