We are new to the chicky farm, but looking forward to raising a "bakers dozen" of chicks for pets and eggs....

We have some chicks coming our way... Please does anybody know how to tell what sex a chick is....

We are getting a few RIR, White Leghorn, and Barred Rock... Any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated....

If you order from a hatchery, you can usually ask them to mark any cockerels you order. You can also order sex-link chickens so you'll know by color what sex they are from time of hatch. Otherwise you just have to wait until they are a bit older, at least 4 to 6 weeks old. Then an experienced eye can usually pick out the cockerels.
Welcome to BYC!
