We got our new Borbon Red tom yesterday. He is about 2 yrs old and has a nice gentle disposition. He is with his two lovely ladies Hanna and Barbie and all is right with the world. I just came in from feeding him and the girls a fugi apple. My wife might be a little upset at losing that $2.00 organic apple, but I gained a little trust and they loved it.
I have placed my eastern wild/merriams on craiglist at a high enough dollar amount that if they sell it will be someone who will take care of them. If they don't sell, we can keep them in the pen and release the Bourbons to the yard. I want all my birds to free range, but the merriams are too flighty for that. As soon as I let them out they are in the trees and out the yard. They do come back and hang out but spend too much time outside the yard for my liking.
