I had four 2 week old chicks, but re-homed 2 because I am nearly positive they were cockerels, and were aggressive. That left me with 2, a polish that I am not sure about the gender on, and a BO that I swear is a pullet. Anyhoo, we got 3 one day olds from the feed store yesterday. I rigged up the funniest looking brooder because the 45 gallon bin was way too small. I used an exercise pen, a kiddie pool, cardboard, zip ties, and a ton of duct tape. I started out yesterday having them separated because I still had the 2 aggressive birds, but this afternoon they were gone, so I tried putting my 3 newbies in with my polish and BO...and they get along just fine! The BO actually lets them crawl under her wing...imagine that...a broddy acting 2 week old
The little RSL pecks at her too, and she just takes it. I guess the little specks aren't very threatening.
I think i am now positive my Polish is a bantam though. Being almost 2 weeks older, and not that much bigger is my first clue.
Here are some pictures of my set up and my mini flock of love
The rigged up brooder before the merger:
The set up after the 2 meanies were gone:
The flock...including my "mama" 2 week old.
Edited because I can't spell when it gets nice outside
