Well, I've been promising/threatening my wife that I was going to be getting chickens for the last 5 years. We live on an old farmstead in Indiana, and she hasn't been too keen on getting chickens. Last week, I told her that TSC had some chicks for half off, and she told me to "go ahead and get them". Well, they were sold out by the time I finally decided I would (next morning). This Saturday, I showed up and bought 6 Black Jersey Giants and 4 Tetra Tints that were all getting pretty far along. When I showed up with 10 chicks, she first threw a fit, and then said, "is that all you brought home?"

Well, I happened to pick up some red pulllets, some Ameracaunas, and two buff orpingtons to round out the flock to an even twenty-two, just to satisfy my wife. She had to pick up and handle all the smaller chicks . . . hillarious!

I'm working on doing this for the fist time, and am not completely sure where the adventure will take me. I guess I'm here to find out. Hoping for some nice, big blue and cream and brown eggs soon.

All the best,

Homer

Thanks for the warm welcomes! Here are a few pics, after watching my alma mater make it through a tough game!

Here's my basket full of Tetra Tints and Jersey Giants

And my basket full of Ameracaunas, Red pulls, and Buff orps.

Hopefully this fixed the link to the pics!
