I ran to the learning center and read a few articles. But we are concerned about her. The hen's(flock's) favorite laying spot has been selected as the spot to incubate this clutch of eggs naturally by one of our hens. Their primary spot is a large dog crate appropriate for a large german shepard transport crate on our porch(hay filled) and spot 2 is a cat crate with hay as well.

I just worry about the timing as we are having lows near 40F and usual highs in the 70-80F ranges lately. Should I break her as her eggs are on the plastic floor and cold or would she know to move them to an insulating space as needed(on to the hay)?

How many eggs is she sitting on ? Is she able to cover them all ? If so then it should be fine.
Temp doesn’t sound too bad.
Maybe add more bedding to the nest if you’re worried about them being on a plastic floor.

I am worried I would disturb her by adding more hay. I broke my first broody hen in an instant reaching in to feed her. It seems the clutch is 3-5 eggs and yes she gets them all covered nicely after turning the nest. I just wish they didn't strip the hay down to bare plastic in the airline transport carrier, regardles, I am believing chicken know more about rearing chicken than I do.

Do you want her to hatch?
If so, best to set her up in a safe place.
If moving her breaks her, she wasn't really serious.
I move them to safe place with fake eggs, if they stick tight, then I give fertile eggs and mark the calendar.

Oh and yes I wan't to have her raising those eggs. The calender is marked and yes we know she has 21 days to hatch them out.
