Hi all
New member here, in southern Ontario, Canada. I have 2 Australorp hens and 4 White Chantecler hens a White Chantecler rooster, plus seasonal white chantecler meat birds. They cope very well with the tough winters we have here, perfect breed for us.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Those are both excellent breeds for cold climates. Australorps are my favorite standard breed. I raised them where winter temperatures dipped to 30 F below zero, and with a draft free, dry, and well ventilated coop, they did just fine. In addition they are calm and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and excellent layers of large, brown eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your Asutralorps and Chanteclers.
