Hi all

Recieved 26 new white leghorns a week ago and have one little one that i noticed dirty vent, cleaned like supposed to and he or she is limping on one leg. I have paper towels ovet pine shavings in brooder box. And the chick has a scabe just below the vent. the chick eats and drinks and i seen him or her poop but still very small compared to the rest. any suggestions

thank in advance

Put enough molasses in the water to make it the color of weak tea, and put a little Neosporin on the vent.
Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply
Have used the molassas, and the scab is not on the vent but below more between the legs, but did not think about neosporen, any idea about that scab
thanks

I am no expert, but could the scab be the "umbilical" cord healing?
Can you post a picture? It would help the real experts here.
Also are you seeing any of the other chicks pecking at the scab?

Good luck,

Imp
