New chick has black scab under vent-normal or cause for concern?

Hi All!

Brand new chicken mom here. I have four baby hens and one has a dark scab-type thing under her vent. It definitely is mot poop. Is this a belly button scar or is it something I should be concerned about?

The picture is the bird’s rear end and the tail is on top for perspective. Thank you for any help!

Yes, that is most likely it’s umbilicus or navel. It will dry and disappear soon. If you have Betadine or alcohol, you can dab some on it to help dry it up and disinfect it.
