New Chick in Texas

Hello! New backyard chick owner here! We have raised 100s of market broilers for FFA & 4H, but I FINALLY convinced my hubby that we needed laying hens. We have 6 new chicks. A dark Brahma, a gold laced wayondette, a black Australorp, a barred rock, a golden polish, and an Ameraucana. They are our new “friends,” Janice, Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Chandler, and then Tina. No Tina is not a friend, the hubs insisted on naming one after the llama on Napoleon Dynamite. Lol. So far we are having a great time with them. We are building a nice big coop for them & can’t wait until it’s done and they can enjoy it. My parents also have chickens, they are the ones who told me about this very helpful group. So excited to finally be able to be a member and learn more about BYCs. Market broilers are fun, but just not the same. My girls and I are excited to have some that get to stick around and become pets.

My husband is very proud of the name Tina especially when she was being a little fiesta tonight and I was getting on to her lol, he laughed every time I yelled “Tina! Stop! Be nice!” He’d giggle and said “Gah! Tina!”
