New chick in town, Monroe, VA

Hi everyone,

I am new to raising chickens. I have my first coop-ful. I got a dozen chickens when they were a week old, 6 red and 6 golden sexlink pullets. They are 6 weeks old now. They have grown so quickly!

I have a lot to learn and still need to make their first coop. I have a building in the property that I would like to make their home. I have a lot of work ahead of me yet.

I am attaching a picture of the girls and the shed. Please share your wisdom and coop ideas!

! Great to have you with us! Love the rustic chicken house. I'd close off most of that front and make a small walk-in door and maybe a small chicken-sized door. I think it's a great start to a super coop! Good luck to you!

Love the shed and it will make a perfect coop. Lot's of ideas - including repurposed sheds - in the BYC coop section. Enjoy!
