Hi. Originally I had 6 in there through summer & winter. They all survived.It's too small for more than 2 birds. And won't have enough ventilation either.

Yes I was definitely fortunate! It was my first time having chickens. I bought six of them as chicks and never had a problem. There was one top chick, of course, but they managed it pretty well.You were fortunate!
A lot of times overcrowding causes bad behaviors like picking/pecking, less eggs due to stress, eating eggs, and degrading health due to the picking and stress.
They're generally happier and healthier if they have about 4 square feet per bird in the coop, and 10-15 square feet per bird if they have a run.
Here, we have to also consider they will be locked up for a few days or weeks at a time due to frigid winter weather.
