Got my chicks April 18 . Have 8 babies. Wondering should I be mixing grit in with feed?

No. Don't mix grit in with the feed. Offer chick grit in a separate container that is secured so they cannot knock it over.
I would also offer them plugs of sod from your yard. They will go nuts over that.

Are you feeding treats yet?
Are they being brooded outiside or inside?
Offer grit on the side in a little dish

Hi and welcome. I did not start feeding grit until they were offered something other than their chick feed. I used a small glass type dish.

I would not mix it as that seems to encourage them to scratch around in it looking for the bits they want. Some don't bother with grit until they are older, but I prefer to get them started using it sooner rather than later. That way they are used to it, and its in their gizzard if they snack on something that needs grit to grind it up.
