New Chick Mom

Hello,
My name is Sunflower but my friends call me Sunny. I currently live in Ocala, FL. My 5 yr old & I are new mommies to 6 Bantam chicks. We've never had chickens so Im pretty nervous about caring for them correctly.

Which is why I am very happy to have found this site/forum in a google search. My daughter & I also keep 5 ringneck doves, a polish rabbit, and two dogs. Wish us luck!

One of my characters from a story I wrote was named Sunflower (Sunny for short).

Thank you everyone! Since Ive registered up til now, I have been reading all kinds of information. Yes, my chicks have made me laugh a few times & last night they cracked me up. If I would have had a voice (Im sick) I would have laughed hard & loud. One of the chicks found a feather & the others were chasing it. Back & forth they went. Then one took the feather away & they started chasing it. I look again & there was a tug o war going on. Oh my! I even have an escape artist. I spend my days day dreaming about how they will look when they grow up. I thanked my hubby last night for the chicks. They make me happy. They are filling the emptiness that my cat's recent passing left.

Anywho..thank you for the warm & cheery welcome! You can bet I will be here everyday until I feel I know enough. After that, whenever I need help or more info.

Thanks b.hromada! They had me laughing this morning again. But you know what? Im a little worried now..because when the bank takes our house we're moving to Mt Dora. I didnt find Mt Dora on that list. What if a neighbor hears our chickens or sees them. I dont want to lose them! In fact, Kissimmee wasnt on that list either.

Oh well..why worry about it now.

I rather enjoy my chicks

now & do all that I can to keep them when the time comes. Happy Easter to you & all!
