First time subscriber to BackYard Chickens. Have gotten plenty of info from the site in the past. Had our birds for a little over a year a mix of reg and bantams. All have personalities and quirks. Girls love their melon and we actually have melons coming up in our garden this year courtesy of the girls I am sure. Lost our best girl Lacey (Lacey winged Wyandotte) to being egg bound. Tried everything I could find on the internet and from the local feed store, but to no avail. If it ever happens again I'm going to go the valium route. Not sure if that means me or the bird. (Just joking). We have a sizable compound with two coups. Big birds really nail a few of the small birds, plus were getting into eating the eggs. So though the smaller have visitation rights the big birds can't get back to the home coup to torment the iddy-biddy birds. No one seems to realize I am at the top of the pecking order. Such is my story for now, except we are looking for bantam Americaunas, so if anyone in the Bay Area knows of any jingle my coup.

Hello and welcome to BYC

Sorry to hear about Lacey. If it happens again (hopefully not!) have a look in the Emergencies/Diseases section for advice. Some of our members posted some good tips there.
