How much chicken feed do you throw out for four chickens that are 10 weeks old?
They have an auto magic feeder but manage to get it all out and spilt all in the coop. I was thinking of throwing it on the ground for them but don't know how much I should give.

First.... WELCOME! BYC is your place for all things chicken! Enjoy! :welcome

As for the feed, you always need to have feed available. I would suggest getting a hanging feeder, and keeping it full. Then you can sprinkle as much food on the ground as you want. Just make sure there is always unlimited access! :)

Please show a pic of your feeder, and it's location.

One thing you might consider is: Switch to fermented feed. It eliminates essentially all waste, and also increases the protein of the feed, as well as improving it's digestibility, so you will see your feed bill go down.

A down side of simply tossing it on the ground is that it can attract rodents, other pests, and even predators, as well as the potential for it to mold.
