New chick owner

Hi and welcome to BYC! We're so glad you joined us! :frow
Your coop looks wonderful!
I brood chicks out in the coop when they're around two weeks old, even with temps getting down into the 20's. I use a mama heating pad, and I've never lost a chick to the cold. (You can do a search here and find lots of information on how to make one) :)

Thanks for all the information. I will look into one of those pads. We did end up losing one of our rhode island reds the other morning. She was about 5 days old. Very sad. I have no idea what had happened. Temperature is between 90-85 at the height of the chicks, no pasty bottom. She was doing well when I last checked before the end of the night and early next morning and she was just laying flat. I think I’m going to get 2-3 more but maybe get them a little older.
